Memories by Steve Verney, founder of JS Humidifiers
Steve Verney founded JS Humidifiers in London in 1982. The ”J“ stands for Jackie, Steve‘s wife, the ”S“ for Steve. In 1994, the company moved from London to the southern English coast to Rustington, West Sussex. It is still located there today - since 2011 as part of Condair, now trading as Condair Ltd.
Condair Foundation Report
When Defensor AG was founded in Zurich on June 21, 1948 it had nothing more than a patent and a bold vision: A novel aerosol atomizer that produced chemically enriched ‘mist’ promised eradication of communicable infectious diseases. After five years the company was on its last breath.
The rescue came unexpectedly.
Memories by Uwe Draabe, former proprietor and managing director of DRAABE, Hamburg
Uwe Draabe is the son of Hans-Jürgen Draabe, who in 1949 founded the DRAABE company in Hamburg. With its exclusive marketing and sales rights for Defensor, DRAABE grew into the leading source of air humidification systems in Germany. In 1982, Uwe Draabe introduced the company’s first own innovation: a transportable purified water container with reverse osmosis, which DRAABE sold in an innovative rental package.
The Man with an Opinion
Hans Badertscher (1920-2011) was a gifted design engineer and a patron of the old school. Not only did he create the name Condair, but the first Swiss steam humidifier, still an important product in Condair’s product range today, also belongs to his innovative achievements.
